Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir made a huge statement following India’s thumping win over Pakistan in ICC World Cup 2023. He said that if there will be series between the two arch-rivals it won’t be competitive as there’s a massive difference between the teams.
Gautam Gambhir’s comments came during the discussion on Star Sports. He touted India’s win over Pakistan in ICC World Cup 2023 as ‘hammering along with domination’ and pointed out that Men in Blue have been all over them in the last few years.
Gautam Gambhir wasn’t impressed by Pakistan’s performance against India in the ICC World Cup 2023. He said that with the way Men in Green played, it’s a bad for sub-continent cricket. He explained:
“Hammering along with domination. You use this word very rarely, and that too when you are playing against Pakistan. If you see the results, Pakistan used to hammer India like this for a long time. However, for the last many years, India has dominated,”
“This is bad for subcontinental cricket. We always used to say that if we have an India-Pakistan series it will be competitive. An India-Pakistan series is not going to be competitive at all because there is a massive difference between the two sides.”
India dominated Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023 encounter. Based on a terrific bowling performance, they bundled out Men in Green for just 191 runs. In the chase, Rohit Sharma took their pacers to the cleaners and smashed a brutal 86 runs whereas Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 53 runs to take their team home.
India extended their winning run over Pakistan in the World Cups. They have never lost against them in the 50-over tournament. This was the 8th time when they thumped them. Both the teams last faced each other in bilateral series in 2013 and since then haven’t faced each other in series due to political tensions.

Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav were two of the main reasons behind the team winning against Pakistan. They both picked two wickets each and helped the team bundle out the opposition for a low total.
Gautam Gambhir highlighted that to have Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah in the team is a luxury for any captain. He also compared the Indian pacer’s performance with Shaheen Afridi. He added:
“If any captain has Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, it is a huge luxury. Out of 50 overs, you get 20 overs from bowlers who can give you wickets anytime. You were comparing Jasprit Bumrah with Shaheen Shah Afridi. Jasprit Bumrah’s first spell was under the 2 PM sun and he hardly gave any runs in his first four overs.”
India will be next seen in action when they will take on Bangladesh on Thursday (19th October). Pakistan will be next seen in action when they take on Australia on Friday (20th October) in Bengaluru
