Khaled Mahmud: Hopeful for Shakib’s Recovery

The high time of the cricket is going on. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is going on in its glory. It is a golden opportunity for all teams. They are trying hard to get the ultimate success. In between the tournament, Bangladesh had a setback. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan suffered an injury in the last match of Bangladesh. Then a question was raised about his availability in the match against India. Bangladesh cricket team director is still optimistic about his arrival against India. 

The Injury:

Shakib al Hasan is a star all-rounder of the team. The Bangladeshi skipper sustained an injury in left quad in the match against New Zealand. Bangladesh lost the match by 7 wickets. Despite the injury, Shakib continued batting and bowling in the match. But he was in serious pain. 

Bangladesh cricket team’s director Khaled Mahmud talked about the injury and Shakib’s availability in the match. He said, “ Shakib is getting better. He is pain-free. But we will know the full scenario when he hits the nets tomorrow. He will also be running between the wickets. We are hopeful that he can play against India. He worked in a swimming session, and some upper-half work in the gym today. There will be a scan tomorrow which will give us a clearer picture of his situation. Usually, these injuries produce a lot of pain. It is tough to walk around even. He is quite well. It is giving us hope.”

 Shakib’s recent form:

The World Cup is going on and Bangladesh faced two defeats. They won their first match against Afghanistan by 6 wickets. Shakib al Hasan is in a good rhythm. In the match against Afghanistan, Shakib performed well. He took three wickets in 30 runs. His economy rate was 3.75. While batting, got out on 14 runs in 19 balls. 

In the second match against England, Bangladesh faced a huge defeat of 137 runs. It was a disappointing match for them. Shakib took 1 wicket in 52 runs. In batting his performance was not impressive. 

In the third match, they defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets. Shakib al Hasan scored 40 runs in 51 balls. He smashed 3 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries. In the second innings, he took 1 wicket in 54 runs. His injury is a big blow for the team. If he makes a comeback against India, it will be a big asset to the team.
