Mitchell Marsh leaves Delhi Capitals hanging in the middle in IPL 2024 and flies back to Australia to..

Delhi Capitals could miss the services of their star allrounder Mitchell Marsh for a good number of games in the ongoing IPL 2024. The Australia allrounder has reportedly returned home to treat the hamstring tear.

He suffered the injury while bowling during the game between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3. He later came out to bat and was dismissed for a duck. Mitchell Marsh has not played for Delhi Capitals since then as he missed the games against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.

Last week, Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach Pravin Amre delivered a worrying update on Mitchell Marsh’s injury, saying: “He has gone for a scan and the physios will give us a report in a week’s time.

“Then we will come to know what the exact situation is. Whether he can [play the entire season] or not depends on the reports,” added Amre while interacting with the media after the loss against Mumbai Indians.

Mitchell Marsh returns home:

It looks like Mitchell Marsh’s injury is s serious one. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the Australian allrounder has returned home to treat the injury. The news outlet stated that Cricket Australia decided to recall the player after coordinating with Delhi Capitals. He has suffered a partial tear in his right hamstring and will return to India only after recovering fully.

With the T20 World Cup to take place in June this year, Australia won’t take any risk with the player. Mitchell Marsh is in line to lead the team in the marquee event and Australia will be hoping that he recovers fully soon. As a result, it won’t be very surprising if Mitchell Marsh does not play in the IPL again this year.

Before the injury setback, Mitchell Marsh did not manage to make a big impression in the IPL. In four games, he registered scores of 20, 23, 18 and 0. With the ball, he picked up just a solitary wicket.  Talking about DC, they have won two of their first five games and currently languishing at the ninth spot in the points table.
