Afghanistan Cricketer Mujeeb Ur Rahman With Young Fan

Mujeeb Ur Rahman shared a heartwarming moment with a young boy after Afghanistan’s historic win over England at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday (October 15). The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side stunned the reigning world champions by 69 runs to register arguably the biggest win in their history.

And soon after the game came to an end, a brilliant moment was witnessed. As the Afghanistan players were walking towards the dressing room, a young boy walked towards them before hugging Mujeeb Ur Rahman. He was also seen crying as he struggled to contain his emotions after Afghanistan’s brilliant win.

And many believed that the young boy was an Afghani. However, Mujeeb Ur Rahman has revealed that the boy was not an Afghani but an Indian. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the star spinner, on Tuesday (October 17), expressed his delight over meeting the boy before thanking the Delhi fans for their support, writing:

“It’s not Afghani boy it’s one young Indian boy so happy for ur win It was an absolute pleasure meeting this little guy from India Delhi last night (Cricket is not just a game it’s an emotion)💙Big thank you to all our amazing fans for coming down and supporting us last night the love and support is overwhelming.

“We are grateful for your continuous support and we can’t wait for you to keep supporting us in the future❤🙌 thanks for love Delhi,” he added.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman played a stunning role for his side in their win over England. The spinner impressed not only with the ball but with the bat as well and he was adjudged Player of the Match. With the bat, he played a crucial knock of 28 runs from just 16 balls and shared a 44-run stand with Ikram Alikhil for the eighth wicket.

With the ball, he picked up three wickets for 51 runs in his 10 overs to help his side win the game by 69 runs. He dismissed Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Chris Woakes as Afghanistan bowled out England for 209 while defending 284.
