Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja criticized skipper Babar Azam for his inability to score big in the ongoing ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. Ramiz Raja highlighted Babar Azam’s consistent pattern of getting out after reaching his half-century in the marquee event.

Babar Azam scored 50 runs off 65 deliveries as Pakistan was bowled out for 270 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, October 27. The Pakistan skipper was caught behind off Tabraiz Shamsi’s bowling on the very next ball after reaching his fifty.

Give Babar Azam The Last Warning For The Next Match – Ramiz Raja

Speaking after Pakistan’s one-wicket loss to South Africa, Ramiz Raja suggested that Babar Azam should be given a final warning for not capitalizing after scoring a half-century. Ramiz emphasized that Babar threw away his wicket after building an innings.

“The one who gets out after completing his fifty, give him the last warning for next match that if you repeat the same pattern, there is no space in team for you. Because he consumes the overs, spend the time on wicket, balance the innings but then destroy it completely as well,” Ramiz said.

Babar Azam scored 207 runs in six innings with a moderate average of 34.50 and a best score of 74. He crossed the 50-run mark in all these innings, but unfortunately, they all came in losing causes. His strike rate, which is 76.92, has come under scrutiny.

Pakistan To Face Bangladesh On October 31

The Men in Green are on the brink of early elimination from the World Cup after suffering four consecutive losses. They are still mathematically in the tournament, but it will be nearly impossible for them to secure a spot in the top four of the prestigious tournament.

The Babar Azam-led team is currently in fifth place in the 10-team table with four points to their tally. They can add a maximum of 10 points to their name at the end of the group stage game. They will face Bangladesh in their next match in Kolkata on Tuesday, October 31.
