Rohit Sharma Provides Huge Update On Hardik Pandya’s Injury

Indian captain Rohit Sharma provided a huge update about Hardik Pandya’s fitness after the match against Bangladesh in the ICC World Cup 2023. There was a huge sense of scare in the Indian camp after the all-rounder walked off the field in the first innings. 

Hardik Pandya while bowling his first over slipped in his follow-through. He went off the field and didn’t come to the field for the next 40 overs. The all-rounder then went for scans and later returned to the Indian dressing room during the batting innings. 

There were a lot of speculations after his injury as he has been the vital cog for his team in the tournament. But now Rohit Sharma has opened up about Hardik Pandya’s Injury. He said that the injury isn’t major as his ankle was sore and they asses the next morning. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he explained: 

“He (Hardik) pulled up a bit sore, nothing really major. We’ll see how he pulls up tomorrow morning and then plan on how to go forward.” 

Coming to the match, India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in Pune. They restricted the opposition to 256 runs and then chased the target with 7 wickets in hand. Virat Kohli slammed a magnificent ton and guided his team home. 

Rohit Sharma also talked about the win and said that it was a good win for them as a unit. He lauded the team for the overall performance and elaborated: 

“It was a good win, something we were looking forward to. We didn’t start well, but the guys pulled it back in the middle-overs and at the back-end. Our fielding has been superb in all these matches, it’s something that’s in your control, you can put in your best effort. The bowlers were smart enough to understand what lengths to bowl. Jaddu was brilliant with the ball and the catch, but you can’t beat a hundred.”

Rohit Sharma also lauded the crowd for coming in numbers. He added that they are doing well as a group. He explained: 

“We’re doing well as a group, a medal for all performances in the playing field and that’s something which motivates everyone to do well. Everyone in the squad has gone through pressure, the crowd is coming in big numbers, the stands are full, they haven’t disappointed us, they’ve been brilliant and I’m sure they’ll be louder and louder as we move on.” 

India will next be seen in action when they will take on New Zealand on Sunday (22nd October) in Dharamsala.
